The Ordinary in Charleston is a stunning, chic restaurant set in a beautifully repurposed old bank, offering an upscale yet relaxed atmosphere. The service is impeccable, and the seafood is truly some of the best I've ever had. From the perfectly balanced House Martini to the fresh and impressive Seafood Tower, every dish was exquisite. The Wagyu Steak Tartare was rich and flavorful, while the Oyster Sliders were a unique and delightful treat. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience with outstanding seafood, The Ordinary is a must-visit!

Drinks, food, service! Everything was beyond our expectations! It was fun seeing everyone around us order the seafood towers! Quite the experience. While it was just the two of us we were able to try some oysters, stone crab, zucchini carpaccio and their rendition of ceviche. We tried various cocktails and they were all great as well. Notably the Lorenzo Fizz was my favorite cocktail of the night! We ended with the grouper, steak frites and their fig pie. Wow! Would definitely come back!

Visited Charleston and had a dinner reservation for two. Some dishes were better than others, but I enjoyed my dinner and would come back here. If you like fresh seafood, this is a good place to check out (though they do not have crab or lobster). Dishes seem relatively "simple", but focused on freshness and quality ingredients which I appreciated. Ambiance / Service: this is in an old bank. Decor is fairly simple, but it still feels nice and would be a great place for a date night. You can dress up or down. Service was great. Food: everything was shared between two people and it was too much food. We preferred the appetizers over the mains, which were a bit underwhelming and under seasoned. Not sure if the menu changed a bit since I went, but some highlights include: -Peel & Eat Shrimp: fresh! Comes with around 12 good sized shrimps on ice with a small thing of a tartar. -Crispy Oyster Slider: comes with one. I did not try this, but the person who got it liked it. The waiter said it's one of the things they are known for. -B Liner Snapper Leche de Tigre: flavors were subtle but I enjoyed. Never thought to have cantaloupe with fish or avocado and it worked! -Heirloom Tomato & Cucumber Salad: Simple, but refreshing. Love the blue cheese. -Smoked Amberjack Pate: this was my favorite dish. It's a must order! -Some small side dish similar to an eggplant parm. Sooo flavorful and delicious.

Perfect date night spot! Started with the seafood tower and the single was beyond plenty for two of us. Oysters and crudo were fantastic. The zucchini carpaccio was sneaky delicious, very thinly sliced with pine nuts, basil, very refreshing. Steak tartare was wonderful! Beautiful decor and ambiance. 5/5!

We stopped into, The Ordinary the other night for an impromptu appetizer-dinner date. You can never go wrong eating at The Ordinary, maybe broke (because everything is so amazing)! The bar scene is super chill and fun, the bartenders are great to talk to, and they will spend the extra time to walk you through the menu. We came in already knowing that you MUST always order the oyster sliders. I could eat hundreds of these small sandwiches, they are SO good. It's like a Bahn-Mi-style sandwich with a fried oyster. We tried the heirloom tomato & cucumber salad; everything was so fresh and loved the dressing. We were talking with our bar neighbor (Hank) and he asked us if we had ever tried the smoked oysters, which we had not. He was so nice that he got us the dish and we have now found our 2nd MUST order dish! There is a special way to eat them too: flip the cracker, cream fresh, hot sauce, oyster, and all down the hatch in 1 bite! If you're looking for a romantic bar, with amazing food and great vibes head to the Ordinary! Chef Mike Lata is an OG Chef in Charleston so you will not be disappointed.

I have had the pleasure of coming here three times in the last few years. Every time I've had a wonderful experience from staff to finish. I made a 5pm reservation on Resy and arrived at 5 on the dot. The hostesses welcomed us in, located our reservations and we were led upstairs to our table. The interior is as beautiful as the exterior, great photo opportunities especially upstairs. Our server, Kaitlyn, was just incredible. I love having a server who is excited about detailing and describing the menu, she sounded like she truly had a passion for food and we ended up ordering everything we inquired about. She was quick and attentive, refilling our sauces, relishes, drinks and water. She checked on us throughout our meal which was almost 2.5 hours! We started off with the middle tiered seafood tower with the addition of the Supreme caviar and drinks. We could have done without the little neck clams to be honest, they were good just not as good as everything else going on. The single ladies oysters have always been my absolute favorite oysters in Charleston so I'm glad we had a generous serving of them. Kaitlyn brought us extra creme fraiche and hotcakes to finish it off the caviar. Tackling a tower is delicious and so fun! We ordered our entrees: the swordfish schnitzel for my friend and I had the slow baked wreckfish. My friend said the swordfish was the best thing they've had in Charleston! I had a bite and it was lovely from start to finish. Initially the crust tasted nutty and sweet with some crisp texture, that fades and then you get the fish alone. Perfectly prepared. My dish was meant to be, as a hardcore lover of Tom Kha Gai I was thrilled with the first bite of my wreckfish. It was in a soup-like base that was creamy and citrusy, with the cutest spring veggies. Every bit of fish was tender and flavorful. We also had Pete's beets vinaigrette. I personally love beets, and these were loved too. The salad had some slices of blood orange, ricotta and walnuts. Absolutely refreshing. We did not see desserts on the menu so we asked Kaitlyn, we ordered both options available: chocolate hazelnut budino and the blueberry panna cotta. Both were excellent but if I had to choose I'd have the budino again. Make sure you scoop all the way to the bottom so you get some of the caramel with each bite. My choice of cocktails: frozen limonada, the ordinary daiquiri, and an espresso martini... Thanks for a great meal and experience! I'm looking forward to my next visit.

This restaurant is far from ordinary. They pay attention to even the smallest details. Restaurant is large but still feels intimate. What a great place to take a date or have a business dinner. The menu itself is relatively small, seafood focused. I started with some oysters and finished with New England clam chowder. Chowder was the best I have ever had. No question about it. Oysters were good. I bought half dozen and then bought a half dozen more. Service was fast, friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The Wine list was great. They even had the proper stems. I'll be back.

Having stayed in Charleston frequently nearby I had the opportunity to try out the Ordinary several times. Built in a former bank The Ordinary has a tremendous amount of character. The high ceilings, the large bar, the thick heavy doors - The Ordinary is anything but ordinary. They even have a cute little outdoor dining area. Service is delightful once past the hostess station. I don't know what it was but every time I came in the hostesses would simply stare at me without saying a word and with solidly neutral expressions. I would then say I would sit at the bar and scurry over. The bar was always delightful. The service here is wonderful with everyone always being so friendly and helpful. The food was good. Great oysters for sure and the little crispy fried oyster slider was delightful. The smoked oysters were not my favorite, but I suspect that is a personal preference. I thought the crudo was very good. I'll admit, I liked the cocktails more than the food. The food was good, but the cocktails shined.
